Cyclones also called as centrifugal separator, are used to separate particles like bran and dust from air..
Working Principle:
- A Centrifucgal Blower with a dynamically balanced impeller when operated increases the velocity of air and creates a strong air stream which transports particles from the equipment to the cyclone.
- Due to the high velocity of air stream, the particales, due to its mass, are pushed to the outer edges as a result of centrifugal force.
- Incoming air is automatically forced to adopt a fast-revolving spiral movement, called double vortex. This double spiral movement consists of an outer stream, which flows downwards in a spiral mainly particles, and an inner stream - air, which flows upwards in a spiral.
- The particles in the air are forced to the outer edges and leave the separator via a collection device fitted to the bottom of the separator.
